Demos & Stuff! :: 5/11/03

Wow! It's been awhile! Well here's a big list of cool and upcoming games!

First, there's Half-Life 2 of course. It's supposed to have crazy mad physics in the new Source game engine (like explosions filling volumes like they said would be in TF2 a long while back) and some excelent AI that can chase you through about anything as well as spiffy graphics and facial animation. Expect Team Fortress 2 to be announced soon after Half-Life 2 comes out in September (or maybe as soon as more details are released on HL2)

Next, there's Halo for PC. It will be enhanced over the pittiful X-box version. :D (new maps, weapons [including the alien' fule-rod gun] and you can fly the alien Banshee in mulitiplayer mode). Plus you can use mouse and keboard. (big plus in my book)

There's another expantion to Morrowind with werewolves. (Bloodmoon) I wonder if/when they'll get to the next new installment. I think there were supposed to be 3 full games total including that last one I can't even recall the name of now. (it used a sprite based enigne in the age of real 3D)

For those who are totally phyco there's GTA: Vice City and Postal 2.

One that's out of the norm and sounds kind of cool is called The Movies by Lionhead. It's a tycoon style game where you start you're own movie studio and direct the movies you are making from 1920's to the present. You make decions about buying props, building sets, hireing actors, selecting scrips, etc. It may end up being highly expandible (like The Sims). Due 2004 or later

Then there's Enter the Matrix. Nice idea to tie in to the movie, but will the game be any good?

Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy looks pretty spiffy. Lots of lightsaber action (single, double or saber staff) and very customizeable characters. You can will be able to use the force while using the saber at the same time for "combos" which is a new to the JK games.

Deus Ex 2 - pretty graphics, mulitple ways to solve problems. Kind of a rollplaying FPS.

Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of WWII - 2nd or so expantion to BF1942, new maps, new vehicles & weapons. W00t :-/

Medieval Total War: Viking Invasion - expantion to MTW with Vikings. Uhh...if you liked MTW you might like this.

Galatic Civilizations got a real good rating in CGW as did Raven Shield. I've played RS and it is quite good!

Oh yeah, there's that thing called Doom 3 also. Blech.

Well, I think that's it for now.

Demos & Stuff! :: 1/21/03

Happy belated New Year! Sorry I haven't updated more. I'm currently working on moveing Paintball Central to it's new host and converting it to a PostNuke based site. Wow, haven't updated in over a month. Guess it's time! (not much game wise going on in January any way)

Unreal II: The Awakening has gone Gold!!! (and SimCity 4 if any one cares)

See the World of Warcraft official world map.

Get the IGI: Covert Strike demo! I've been beta testing this, or trying, I've only got dialup and you have to download several hundred megs each time they release a new version, but I'm geting a cable modem (again) soon!

Get the demo of Praetorians at their site. I think it sounds a bit like Medieval: Total War which I've been play some of, but it's getting kind of old now.

Black Hawk Down bumped to a March release. The MP demo looked OK, but had some key binding issues for me.

Also check out the Splinter Cell demo, Raven Shield demo, and Battle Field 1942 demos!

Well, hopefully I'll keep up with this site a bit more after I get PBCentral done.

Hegemonia & Patchs :: 12/02/02

I hear Hegemonia is pretty cool. Grab the demo (166.9 MB)and try it out!

Get your turn based strategy on, on your PDA or Smart Phone using Play-by-Sync technology in Lands of Shadowbane.

Blizzard has released a cinematic DVD of cut-scene from StarCraft®, Diablo® II, and Warcraft® III. Includes other extra features also.

Patches

Raven-Shield Demo :: 11/15/02

The Multiplayer demo of Raven Shield is out now! Unfortunately it's only availible through FilePlanet. (GameSpy) :(

An "exclusive". What kind of crap is that?!

Patch and Junk :: 11/11/02

Warcraft III updated to 1.04 (1.7 MB)http://www.fileplanet.com/files/110000/116835.shtml

The Multiplayer demo of Raven Shield should be released Nov. 14! Watch the Official Raven Shield page for the release.

If you didn't know Unreal II has been delayed till Jan. '03 so as to give Unreal Tournament 2003 some time to sell before Unreal 2 hits the shelves.

In other Blizzard news, the WOW (World of Warcraft) page has some MP3 samples of the game music you can download!

Doom 3 Alpha Leaked! :: 11/04/02

The E3 alpha of Doom 3 has been leaked! You might be able to find it some where online if you're lucky. Check the SlashDot posting. From what I read it's running pretty slowly on normal video cards (like not ATI 9700s)
Check out these Doom 3 screen shots galore! (74 of them)

In other news, the UT2003 Patch is out now. Get it here!

Also check out Mobile Forces. It looks pretty interesting and uses the latest UT engine.

MORE stuff to check out:

Don't forget Tribunal, the expantion to Morrowind has gone gold and should be out soon.

Natural Selection :: 11/01/02

You should definatly check out Natural Selection, a new mod for Half-Life! It could be the next Counter-Strike!

It's based on that team vs. team thing but it's aliens vs. Marines and there is a commander mode (Marines only I think) like the one that was supposed to be in Team Fortress 2. The aliens have special abilities like seeing through walls and the Marines have their commander and team work. You actually have resources like in a RTS type game also!

New Patches Added :: 10/15/02

Quake 3 patch 1.32 is now out (28MB) and so is WarCraft III 1.03 (3.9 MB)!

I also added these to the patches page.

Diablo II 1.09D (1.8 to 5 MB)
StarCraft 1.09B (2.8 MB)
WarCraft II 1.4/1.5 (1.8 to 5 MB) Depending if you have the Beyond the Dark Portal Expantion or not.

New Design 2! :: 10/07/02

All the design is pretty much done now, but I still have to update the patch and mod links. Some of them are pretty old and may not be around anymore. :)
